  • Amit Singhi promoted to chief operating officer and continues as Piston Group Chief Financial Officer. Singhi also takes on a minority ownership position in the Piston Group.
  • Rob Fisher named group vice president, Marketing & Sales, reporting to Singhi.

Amit Singhi has been promoted to the position of chief operating and financial officer for the Piston Group with responsibility for operating and financial matters at all of the Piston Group’s four companies. Reporting to Singhi will be the CEOs and executive finance teams at Piston Automotive, Irvin Automotive, and AIREA, as well as at Detroit Thermal Systems representing the Piston Group’s controlling interest. Before joining the Piston Group as Chief Financial Officer in August 2017, Singhi had held a variety of management positions at Ford Motor Company and General Motors. Most recently he was CFO at FLIR Systems, a publicly held mid-cap technology company based in Portland, Oregon.

“Amit has quickly become an integral part of our organization and has demonstrated an ability to assume a much greater leadership role in further driving operational excellence at our Piston Group companies,” said Mr. Johnson. “He is also now a minority partner in the Piston Group and will have an important role in my succession plan. We fully expect him to lead this organization to even higher levels of performance in the future.”

Johnson also announced the appointment of Rob Fisher as group vice president of Marketing & Sales, Piston Group, reporting to Singhi.

Fisher has more than 33 years of automotive experience in the areas of general management, sales and marketing, engineering, purchasing and program management. Previously Fisher held executive positions at Takata Seat Belt Inc. and Irvin Automotive (now a Piston Group company).

“Rob is a terrific addition to our team,” said Singhi. “He is a highly respected executive with an impeccable track record. He will help further strengthen our customer relationships and drive top-line growth and functional excellence throughout our sales and marketing operations.”

Singhi holds master’s degrees in electrical engineering and business administration from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai, India.

Fisher holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Kettering University (formerly General Motors Institute) in Flint, Michigan, and a master’s degree in business administration from Oakland University in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
